TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Spokesman of Prabowo Subianto - Sandiaga Uno campaign team (BPN), Ferry Juliantono, refuted issues saying that the presidential hopeful would lead a protest initiated by Islamic group 212 alumni brotherhood (PA 212) dubbed "Ifthor Akbar 212."
The event is planned to be held in front of the General Election Commission (KPU) office on May 22. "It' not true," Ferry told Tempo on Saturday, May 18.
Previously, Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) official Muchsin Alatas claimed that the event would be led by the Presidential candidate number 02. "Prabowo's team will also join [the event], and he, himself will lead [the mass iftar]," Ferry said on Friday, May 17, admitting that he has not received confirmation following Prabowo's presence in the event.
Another BPN spokesman, Andre Rosiade, also said he has not been informed if the former army general would attend the Ifthor Akbar 212, adding that the Gerindra chief patron would usually consider attending an invitation.
The conservative Islamic group planned to hold a 'mass iftar' in front of the Election Commission (KPU) office on May 21 and 22, protesting the election organizer to stop the announcement of the vote recapitulation result.
“[We are] demanding KPU stop the announcement because it will surely announce the winning of candidate number 01 (Jokowi - Ma’ruf Amin) who is strongly suspected to practice systematic fraud,” said PA 212 spokesman Novel Bamukmin on Thursday, May 16.
